I've been joining in the Ewell
Sessions, and was using my old ring binder of tunes. All very
well, but as often as not by the time I'd found the right page the
tune was halfway through. So this is an attempt to present tunes in
format to quickly display on a smartphone or tablet.
Using the Index.
If you just want to see a single tune then click on ABC or chords.
ABC - which presents the music in score /sheet music format - is
probably most generally useful for most people.
If you wish to play a set of tunes, then select 1st, 2nd and even
3rd or 4th for the relevant tunes on the right hand side of the
screen, and hit the appropriate button in the lower right corner
to display. The chord chart format is my own variation on a grid
style chord chart and the arrangements are biased towards use
improvising bass lines. Some of the chord choices aren't great and
need a bit of work.
One serious limitation of this version of the program is that
doesn't cope that well with oddly laid out ABC files. If you have an
ABC file that doesn't display then this is the most likely cause. For
now I'm afraid you'll need to edit the file with a text editor and
rearrange it. Probably best to have the K: field immediately before
the music section starts and avoid comments and overflow lines. It
also doesn't handle files with multiple tunes. There must be just one
tune per ABC file.
