Interior Construction (Topside Reinforcement)
Here the stringers can be seen. There are various hooks and fairleads for the transom drains and so on all built into the stringers in wood. All very painstaking and careful stuff. Towards the transom the floor changes to single skin with a reinforcing strip halfway along. This single skin is where the crack in the outer skin has appeared, but then the boat was never intended to be in use 30 years later!
Closeup of the transom from the inside. Note the intricate shaping of the framing. The toe strap anchorages are through bolted to the rudder pintle on the transom behind. The use of funnels for transom port stops was very common in the early 70s - cheap and effective.
